Hoops for a Cause: No. 9 Tennessee edges No. 4 Michigan State in Maui Strong Fund charity game

In a packed Breslin Center, on a Sunday afternoon, Michigan State and Tennessee showcased their skills in a nail-biting match that felt like a NCAA tournament game. Michigan State, with a strong rallying spirit, managed to bounce back from an initial 18-point deficit and early struggles with turnovers.

Despite their commendable efforts, they unfortunately ended up losing a close and captivating game, with the final score standing at 89-88. In the game, Tennessee was guided by Dalton Knecht, who managed to accumulate 28 points. Additionally, Jordan Gainey reached his 20th and last point through a successful free throw with only 1.9 seconds remaining, effectively securing the victory for his team.

Leading the way for Michigan State was Tyson Walker, who recorded an impressive 22 points. In a commendable effort, Malik Hall and Hoggard contributed equally with 14 points each for the Spartans.

The purpose of the game was to raise funds for the victims of Maui, adding an additional layer of significance to the intense competition that unfolded.
