Acaden Lewis, top available PG recruit, commits to Villanova
05/02/2025

In a significant move for Villanova basketball, four-star point guard Acaden Lewis has committed to the Wildcats, marking a pivotal addition to their 2025 recruiting class. Lewis, a standout from Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., previously committed to Kentucky but reopened his recruitment in April.
Standing at 6-foot-2, Lewis is recognized for his dynamic playmaking abilities and leadership on the court. He averaged 16.7 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game during the Nike EYBL circuit with Team Durant, showcasing his versatility and court vision. His performance earned him the title of Washington D.C.'s Gatorade Player of the Year in 2024.
Lewis's decision to join Villanova was influenced by the longstanding relationship he built with head coach Kevin Willard and his staff. "The staff I ultimately had the most trust in was Nova," Lewis told ESPN. "We built a relationship since my sophomore year, when I first transferred to Sidwell. Kevin Willard and his staff were among the first high-major coaches to recruit me at Maryland."
His commitment comes at a crucial time for Villanova, as the program seeks to rejuvenate its roster under Coach Willard's leadership. Lewis joins a recruiting class that includes combo guard Chris Jeffrey and 7-foot-1 center Nico Onyekwere, both of whom are expected to make immediate impacts.
Additionally, Villanova has bolstered its lineup with several transfers:
-
Devin Askew (Long Beach State)
-
Bryce Lindsay (James Madison)
-
Zion Stanford (Temple)
-
Malachi Palmer (Maryland)
-
Duke Brennan (Grand Canyon)
-
Braden Pierce (Maryland)
These additions aim to address the departures of eight players to the transfer portal and the graduation of top scorers Eric Dixon and Wooga Poplar.
Lewis's arrival is anticipated to bring a new level of energy and skill to the Wildcats' backcourt. His ability to navigate pick-and-roll situations and create scoring opportunities for himself and teammates aligns with Villanova's strategic playstyle. As the Wildcats aim to return to NCAA Tournament contention, Lewis's leadership and talent will be instrumental in their pursuit of success in the upcoming season.
