Hayden Woodbury made the most of his summer, turning consistent production into increased recruiting attention. The 6-foot-7 Class of 2027 forward from Fort Bend Christian Academy continued to show why college coaches value size, rim protection, and dependable interior play.

Woodbury was a key contributor throughout the 2025-26 high school season, averaging 10.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks per game while helping Fort Bend Christian advance to the TAPPS 5A Elite Eight. The team also captured a TAPPS 5A Area Championship, and Woodbury earned First Team All-District honors for his performance.

His momentum carried into the summer.

At the TABC Showcase, Woodbury anchored the paint as Fort Bend Christian posted a 3-0 record. He averaged 15.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, impacting the game on both ends of the floor. Whether protecting the rim, controlling the glass, or finishing around the basket, he consistently gave his team a physical presence inside.

Woodbury also produced for Behind the Scenes 17U during the grassroots season. One of his strongest outings came on the P32 Circuit, where he recorded 12 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocked shots, reinforcing his reputation as one of the more productive defensive bigs in the region. Across his top five summer performances, he averaged 8.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.2 blocks, and 2.0 assists.

While his statistics stand out, Woodbury's impact extends beyond the box score. He protects the rim with excellent timing, rebounds his position consistently, and runs the floor well for a player his size. Offensively, he understands his role, finishes efficiently around the basket, and rarely forces plays outside the flow of the offense.

His steady development has resulted in scholarship offers from Texas A&M International, Texas A&M–San Antonio, Texas Wesleyan, Howard Payne, Barry University, Wayland Baptist, Florida Memorial, Louisiana Christian, William Penn, Central Baptist, Bethel College (KS), and Lyon College.

Just as impressive is what Woodbury has accomplished in the classroom.

He owns a 3.93 GPA, recently earned a 31 ACT score, and has been recognized as TAPPS Academic All-State. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta, while serving on the leadership team for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. His participation in mission trips to Memphis, Oklahoma City, and San Juan, Puerto Rico further reflects his commitment to leadership and service.

Elite Hoops Spotlight Assessment

Woodbury's recruiting stock continued to rise throughout the summer because of his consistency. Every event reinforced the same strengths: he protects the basket, rebounds at a high level, competes with a relentless motor, and understands how to impact winning without needing a high volume of touches.

Heading into his senior season, expect Woodbury to remain the centerpiece of Fort Bend Christian Academy's interior play. If he continues to expand his offensive game while maintaining the defensive production that has become his calling card, he has the opportunity to attract even greater attention from college programs.

Players with size are always valuable. Players with size, production, academic excellence, and a proven commitment to winning are even harder to find. Hayden Woodbury has shown he brings all of those qualities to the table.
