Some players spend the summer proving they can score. Others prove they can help a team win in almost every phase of the game. Jackson Newton made a strong case for the second category.

The 6-foot-2 Class of 2027 guard from London High School (TX) put together an impressive summer with Arnold Elite 3SSB, building on a junior season in which he averaged 6.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. While those numbers may not immediately jump off the page, his performances on the travel circuit showed a player whose game continues to expand.

Newton delivered in every stop along the live period. He opened with 18 points and six rebounds in Las Vegas, followed by performances of 18 points and 10 rebounds and 20 points and five rebounds in Indianapolis. In Rock Hill, South Carolina, he recorded a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double, and he wrapped up the summer with 17 points and five rebounds in Austin.

Those outings reinforced what coaches already appreciate about his game.

Newton doesn't rely on one skill to make an impact. He plays under control, makes smart decisions with the basketball, and understands how to let the game come to him. Whether he's knocking down an open shot, attacking the basket, or crashing the glass, he consistently finds ways to contribute without forcing the action.

One of the biggest strengths in Newton's game is his versatility. He rebounds well for a guard, competes on every possession, and brings a defensive mindset that rarely takes a play off. His effort and consistency helped earn him District Defensive MVP honors during the 2025-26 season, an award that reflects the value he brings well beyond scoring.

His summer performances also earned recognition across the state. Newton was named a Prep Hoops TABC Difference Maker, recognized as a GSE Standout Player, selected to the Austin Classic All-Tournament Team, and is listed among the Top 100 Texas prospects in the Class of 2027.

College coaches have taken notice as well. Newton has reported scholarship offers from Central Baptist College, Bethel College, Arlington Baptist University, Ottawa University, Emory & Henry University, and St. Xavier University.

His success isn't limited to the basketball court. Newton carries a 3.88 GPA and has earned Academic All-District honors every year since becoming a varsity player as a freshman. He also played a key role in one of Texas' top teams, helping London High School finish 38-2, capture a third consecutive district championship, and advance to the state semifinals.

Jackson Newton's summer wasn't defined by one breakout performance. It was defined by consistency.

He proved he can score when needed, rebound at a high level from the guard position, defend with purpose, and make winning plays against quality competition. Those traits are exactly what college coaches look for in a reliable backcourt player.

As Newton enters his senior season, expect him to continue building on the momentum he created over the summer. His combination of defensive toughness, basketball IQ, versatility, and steady production makes him one of the more dependable guards in Texas' 2027 class—and a player whose recruitment has every reason to keep trending upward.
