Birmingham Brother Rice defeats Detroit Cass Tech for City Championship

It was hyped to the fullest extent when the top two teams in the state faced each other in the Operation Friendship Championship Game at Callihan Hall in Detroit Mercy on Friday.

In front of a large crowd that seemed unfazed by the raging winter storm outside, No. 2 and reigning Catholic League champions Birmingham Brother Rice (21-1) used Junior Warren Marshall's clutch 3-pointer with seconds left in overtime to defeat No.1 ranked and previously undefeated Detroit Cass Tech, 66-65.

Warren Marshall led Brother Rice with 25 points and senior Curtis Williams (Louisville) added 16 points.

Cass Tech (21-1) scored 22 points from Kenneth Robertson and 21 from Mr. PSL Darius Acuff.
