The Mona Shores boys' basketball team put together an inspired effort Wednesday night in front of its home crowd, as they held on for a thrilling 52-49 win over No. 7 Reeths-Puffer in the Division 1 district semifinals.

The Sailors took a 15-9 lead after the first quarter and held a narrow 23-19 lead at halftime. The Rockets responded to take a 31-29 lead into the fourth quarter but couldn’t fend off upset-minded Mona Shores down the stretch in a stunning upset between OK Green Conference rivals.

Jonathan Pittman finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead Mona Shores, while Milo Barangan added 11 points, and Jordan Bledsoe had 10 points and five assists.

The Sailors (15-8) will host Muskegon (20-2) on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Division 1 district championship game.

Travis Ambrose finished with 16 points, 22 rebounds, and six blocks to lead Reeths-Puffer, while Jaxson Whitaker added 16 points and three steals, and Antrel Jones had 10 points, 14 rebounds, five steals and two assists.
