New Florida State head coach Luke Loucks is wasting no time making his mark on the recruiting trail. On Tuesday, Loucks secured the commitment of one of his biggest — quite literally — targets: Marcis Ponder, a 6-foot-11, 300-pound force ranked No. 83 in the Class of 2026.

A native of Florida who currently attends Springfield (VA) Gillion Basketball Academy, Ponder has built a national reputation for his size, strength, and presence in the paint. He was among the first priority recruits for Loucks and his staff, and the Seminoles’ relentless pursuit has paid off.

From the moment Loucks took over in Tallahassee, he made Ponder a top target. The FSU staff stayed active all summer, maintaining consistent contact and showing their commitment to his development and future. That persistence resonated with Ponder, who now plans to bring his imposing game to the ACC.
