Five-star forward Baba Oladotun, one of the premier talents in the 2026 class, has officially pledged to the Terrapins. The 6-foot-10 phenom selected Maryland over Georgetown, Kentucky, and Arkansas—delivering Coach Buzz Williams and his staff one of the most impactful recruiting victories the program has seen in years.

Oladotun’s recruitment intensified after he reclassified from 2027 to 2026 in August. The move immediately put him on every major program’s radar, and Maryland acted quickly. The Terps brought him in for his first official visit in September, a trip that ultimately became the turning point in his recruitment.

When it came down to the final decision, Oladotun said the process narrowed to two local powerhouses: Maryland and Georgetown. What gave the Terrapins the edge was the relationships and family connection Maryland nurtured from day one.

“I chose Maryland because of the relationship I built with Coach Buzz and the entire coaching staff—[it] means a lot to me, and it’s close to home,” Oladotun said. “I really appreciate how much effort they put into getting to know my family. My two older sisters go there, and being so close brings so many opportunities. All my trainers and my entire support system are here.”

Oladotun brings a rare blend of length, mobility, and polished offensive skill to the Maryland frontcourt. He can stretch the floor, attack the rim with power, and guard multiple positions, which has earned him national praise and solidified his standing as an elite prospect.

For Maryland, his commitment is more than a recruitment—it's a declaration. Securing a high-level local star shows that Coach Buzz and his staff are building real momentum and intend to keep powerhouse talent in their backyard.
